Synthed up electro-pop characterized by thick square waves, lead lady vox, and accents of electric guitar whose riffs trickle in around the choruses like rain falling off tree leaves after a strong storm—this is something for which the 21st century seems to have an affinity.
Little Dragon, Yeah Yeah Yeah’s and even Tegan and Sara have all made notable synth-pop songs or albums in the past half decade, but none quite hit the angle from such a melancholic perspective like Uh Huh Her. TVD is here to herald their early show at 9:30 Club this upcoming Wednesday (10/12), as this girl group is one you really don’t want to miss. We have a pair of tickets to give away!
Formed in 2007, this duo is known for their synth work and subtly sad swooning. With a name like Uh Huh Her, it references PJ Harvey’s 2004 effort of the same name and possibly their collective past. Former Mellowdrone member Camila Grey sets the tone with her synth work as Leisha Hailey (of The Murmurs and Showtime’s L word) knocks it down with her vocal wisps that float through each song like a rogue feathers through a summer evening’s breeze.
With their new album Nocturnes set to be released next Tuesday, the band has plenty to show, and with their Keep A Breast Tour, is avid about you being able to see it… something that we here at the Vinyl District have in common with them!
