TVD Ticket Giveaway: Theophilus London at the 9:30 Club, 2/6

We’ve been fans of Theophilus London for a while, and today we’ll highlight some of our favorite things that we’ve said about him. London brings some of his Brooklyn swagger to 9:30 Club on Monday (2/6), and we have a pair of tickets for you to win.

Quoting myself last fall:

London just released his debut full-length album Timez Are Weird These Days this past July after a string of successful mixtapes and the Lovers Holiday EP last winter. The Trinidad-born rapper’s unique, eclectic tracks have been hailed as much more than “indie-friendly hip-hop” [BBC], with influences as diverse as Morrissey and Michael Jackson often cited. Known for a fashion sense as fantastically ostentatious as his music, London has collaborated with Dave Sitek of TV on the Radio, Sara Quinn from Tegan and Sara, as well as renowned DJ and producer Mark Ronson during a Gucci campaign.

TVD Editor Amber Patrick attended a recent show in Cleveland and could not stop singing his praises:

His performance is out of this world. I mean, the dude sampled Pinky & the Brain and made it work. He sets the stage on fire with songs like “Last Name London” or “Why Even Try” and impresses when he’s singing more melodically such as in “I Stand Alone.” He croons at times. His bassist is wild. His versatility is going to get him far, that’s for sure.

This man has music in his veins and charisma that won’t burn out. London works the entire stage effortlessly; he pulls girls out of the crowd and serenades them. He crowdsurfed. “If you fuck with me now, today, I love you. I fuck with you, Cleveland,” said London, expressing his gratitude for all the support he’s received so far from fans. Hell, he took the stage again after his set to dance with the crowd before heading over to the merch table to meet people.

For a chance to win tickets to Monday’s show, tell us in the comments below, your favorite band or artist who will get down with the crowd. No, Theophilus London does not count, as he’s ours.

The winner will be chosen on Friday (2/3) at noon.
