TVD Ticket Giveaway: Aerosmith with special guests Cheap Trick at Jiffy Lube Live, 8/12

Aerosmith embody the notion of unexpected. Well into their fourth decade, the Boston band of brothers-in-arms have taken to the road yet again on their 2012 “Global Warming Tour” which lands in DC’s backyard, Bristow, VA, this Sunday, 8/12.

And when I say “unexpected,” who could believe that the band’s original line-up is wholly intact? Who could believe that after numerous stints in rehab, “Toxic Twins” Steven Tyler and Joe Perry are walking the Earth? Hell, who could believe that Steven Tyler would be a judge on TV’s loathsome American Idol? Who would believe after the war of words in the press over the aforementioned judgeship, the boys are talking and actually hitting the stage together?

Who could believe that this DC date, scheduled for sometime back, was canceled than rescheduled for this Sunday? Well, believe it all because we have a pair of tickets to award one of you guys to check out the band with special guests Cheap Trick!

And by the way, I saw Cheap Trick this past winter and they haven’t lost a thing in their fourth decade either. OK, maybe Bun E. Carlos—but they still blew the roof off at the Fillmore in Silver Spring last February.

Enter to win a pair of tickets to see both legendary bands by giving us—in the comments below—your take on the most unexpected thing in regard to either band, and there’s plenty to choose from. We’ll select one winner this Friday at noon for the pair!

How about Steven Tyler’s real last name – Tallarico! But probably the most unexpected thing is Liv Tyler. Let’s be honest none of thought that his daughter could look like that 🙂 haha

The most unexpected thing that has not already been mentioned: Cheap Trick composed and performed the theme music for The Colbert Report, and it’s called “Baby Mumbles.” Aerosmith and Cheap Trick are both amazingly talented, but I have always thought Cheap Trick was a very under-rated band. The Colbert Report theme is a good example of how they continue to influence popular culture, even when they are not in the spotlight.
