After releasing their self-proclaimed “rock opera” American Idiot in 2004, Green Day made it very apparent that they prefer doing things on a larger scale. The album would go on to sell five million copies in the United States and be turned into a Tony-nominated Broadway musical.
The trio, made up of vocalist/guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tre Cool, has now taken things to an all-new level and is currently preparing to release a trilogy of albums at two-month intervals. The first album of the series—Uno!—is set for a September 25th release and will be followed by Dos! on November 13th and Tre! on January 13th.
Green Day, who has released eight albums and sold more than 65 million records worldwide, recently announced plans for a nationwide tour in support of the three new albums, which will feature a collective total of 38 new songs. Among the scheduled dates is a stop at the Patriot Center on Monday, January 21st.
