TVD Vinyl Giveaway: The Switchblade Kid, Self-Titled

Nostalgia’s palm is a place where it’s easy to find comfort. After all, if it’s not broken, don’t fix it.

The Switchblade Kid is a Memphis act who relishes and recreates sounds of the past with accurate emotional clarity. The outfit’s sound has an analog soul that ranges anywhere from Cure-esque dream pop to over-driven guitars and hella-death metal.

At the tail end of December, they released their self-titled debut on Miss Molly Music, and we’ve got an LP to give away! How can you get your hands on such a tasty treat? It’s easier than you may think…

The Switchblade Kid might not be a staple in Memphis quite yet, but they have garnered attention by already landing on Best-of lists including the Memphis Flyer Best Albums of 2012. Tracks like the garage rock-y “Black on Black” or the shoegaze-laden “Liquid Eyes” show the group’s knack for referencing the past, fueled by catchy melodies and guitar lines you’ll probably end up humming along to by the third chorus.

So how can you get your hands on such a rad deal? It’s Simple! In the comments below, tell us your favorite act with the word “kid” in the name. Since I can’t enough future beats, I’ll probably have to go with Daisuke Tanabe & Kidkanevil’s joint effort Kidsuke. The winner will be chosen on on Thursday, January 10.
