“Malone-a-Rama”
Now Available Online

Fans of the New Orleans Radiators eagerly awaited last Wednesday’s concert on Lafayette Square that teamed Bonerama with Radiators’ guitarist and vocalist Dave Malone (pictured above.) The recording of the show is now available for download on archive.org.

Bonerama played five smokin’ songs before Malone joined them. They immediately tore into the blues classic “Parchman Farm” that was a staple of live performances by the Radiators. The rest of the set featured Bonerama’s “I Lost My House (but I Got My Ruglator),” Chris Kenner’s “I Like it Like That,” the Radiators’ “Confidential” and the Allman Brothers’ “Whippin’ Post.”

The set ended with a song that is most likely the best-known tune by the Radiators—“Like Dreamers Do.” When that song first appeared in the band’s repertoire, long time fishheads marveled at the catchy keyboard hook that defines the number. Since Bonerama doesn’t have a keyboard player, the three trombones played the famous piano line. It was a truly inventive arrangement.

Malone also surprised the enthusiastic crowd by joining opening act Alvin Youngblood Hart and his power trio Muscle Theory (pictured below) for the closing song of their set. The two guitarists tore up the Beatles’ classic, “Come Together.”

Thanks to Henry for coining “Malone-a-Rama,” Fred for the photos and to Jay Sayatovic for recording and uploading the show.
