First annual Jazz in the Park fundraiser is next Wednesday, 2/27

The good folks behind the latest sensation to grace our evening concert calendar schedule are holding their first annual Spring Soiree. “Sowing Seeds in Sacred Ground” is a great chance to hear some wonderful music, drink from an open bar, eat fabulous hors d’oeuvres, and support a great cause.

Jazz in the Park is presented by People United For Armstrong Park. They began presenting Thursday evening shows in the park last spring. The upcoming concerts will be the third in the series.

The organization was founded to promote citizen awareness of and activities in Armstrong Park. They continue to fulfill that mission by forging connections via culture with the neighborhoods around the park and throughout New Orleans.

The fundraiser is in Basin Street Station, the “welcome to New Orleans” building that sits on Basin Street just outside Armstrong Park. The event is scheduled from 6-9 PM and features master percussionist Bill Summers (of the Headhunters and Los Hombres Calientes fame), saxophonist Donald Harrison, Jr.Shaka Zulu, the Black Feather Mardi Gras Indians, members of Flow Tribe and saxophonist Khris Royal.
