Most people connect Brazilian music with the scintillating rhythms of samba and bossa nova. But the most populous country in South America also boasts a strong conservatory tradition focusing on European and Latin classical music.
This evening, one of the foremost guitar ensembles in the world performs at the University of New Orleans Performing Arts Center on the Lakefront campus. The concert is part of the Musical Excursions Concert Series.
The Brazilian Guitar Quartet will feature works by Bach, Albenez, Ronaldo Miranda, Villa Lobos and Guarnieri Ponteios. Tickets are $12.
