Open Ears to Feature Three Jazz Veterans

A lot has been made lately about all the young talent performing improvisational music in New Orleans. But let’s not forget about the stalwarts of the scene who have been defining jazz and setting the bar for decades. This evening, upstairs at the Blue Nile, the bassist James Singleton, the saxophonist Tom Fitzpatrick and the trombonist Mark McGrain (pictured) come together to bring you music performed at the highest level. Showtime is 10 PM and it’s free.

Fitzpatrick recently released his first solo record, McGrain will be releasing a new one with his group, Plunge, this year and Singleton has been playing with all those young cats who have been blowing up on the scene. I would definitely expect some special guests.
