Weekend Shots!

December is in full force, Seattle! If you haven’t exhausted all of your funds on Christmas presents for undeserving family members or ugly sweaters for company Christmas’ parties that your hoping will lead to a naughty moment or two under the mistletoe, here’s what you should check out this weekend!

Friday, 12/7 – Allen Stone at The Paramount | The self-described “hippie with a soul,” Allen Stone, will be gracing Seattle with his musical talents and his adorably dorky and modest personality. A little pop, a little R&B, and a lot of soul, Stone has perfected the equation of upbeat pop without becoming too mainstream. He’s even caught the hearts and grabbed the ears of even the most-critical music lovers.

Stone has plenty of hooks and tons of grooves to allow for a crowd to let a little loose. Lemolo and Choklate will be opening for Stone at the historical Paramount Theater on Friday. Doors open at 7PM for the all-ages show. Tickets are $21.50 advanced.

Saturday, 12/8 – How to Dress Well at Neumos | Head up to Neumos this weekend and check out the charmingly soulful and beautifully melodic sounds of How to Dress Well. Songwriter, producer and the man behind HTDW, Tom Krell cuts up pieces of R&B, mixes them together, and overlays his sweet-sounding voice on the tracks to produce something of pure genius.

While HTDW’s sound is reminiscent of James Blake, it’s quite softer and Krell’s beautiful lyrics and tone shine throughout each song. HTDW is currently on tour to promote their latest release, Total Loss, a follow up to 2010’s Love Remains. Beacon and USF will be opening for HTDW at the 21+ show this Friday at Neumos. Doors open at 7PM and tickets are $12 advanced.

Sunday, 12/9 – Nice&AO at Lo-Fi | Rising hip-hop electronic duo, Nice&AO, the alias of Nate Pringle and Alex Osuch, will be mixing in all their glory on Sunday at Lo-Fi. Pringle and Osuch have both had personal success with various projects, and together have become a more powerful mix.

The group has started to climb up the Seattle scene ladder as artists who know how to chop and screw old songs together nicely. Guilty Simpson, House Shoes, and Samiyam, among others will be opening for the duo at the 21+ show. The show starts at 9PM and tickets are $10.
