TVD’s The Idelic Hour with Jon Sidel

Greetings from Austin, Texas!

Two days into SXSW feels like a long time. The scene here is hectic. That said I love the people and have run into many old friends and in fact made new ones too. Highlights have been Mark Boone, Syd Straw, Bob Geldof, Jack White, Greenhorns, Amanda and Nick Valensi (Strokes) Angelo, Norwood, and John (Fishbone) Junior (The Missionary Position), Simon B, Keith Morris, and Dimitri Coats from OFF, and Alex Ebert and the Edward Sharpe crew. I even ran into my old bandmate Dave Williams who played bass and help produced my first album back in 1990.

Even before the conference began, the number of bands has been overwhelming. I kicked off my SXSW moderating a panel of fellow attendees Taylor from Hype Machine, Kevin from Operation Every Band, Vincent from Co-op, and Jeremy from Vagrant. Our was topic “on-line buzzbands” and it set me in the right direction.

Artists living up to SXSW hype: Givers, Charles Bradley, The Civil Wars, Alexander, OFF!!, Sean Rowe, and TV on the Radio.

Running to TVD’s First Annual SXSW Party, so for now…Texas!
