“My first experience with vinyl was terrifying and comes from a pretty early age, I’d say around three or four years old.”
“I had a Fisher Price record player in my bedroom, and the first record I can remember hearing is a Sesame Street record. One of just a couple of songs that I can remember was a song sung by The Count. It began with the sound of thunder and him doing his Count Dracula laugh (moo hoo ha ha ha ha).
It scared the living daylights out of me, and actually induced a lot of nightmares for me at the time. I couldn’t really avoid the song though because it was like third or fourth on the record, and I really liked the first song on the record which was the “Four Song.” You remember, “Four are the wheels on a big city bus, four people singing is us.”
So, my parents would just start the thing from the beginning, and I’d desperately try to fall asleep right after “The Four Song” but before The Count song, but was rarely ever so lucky.

Pretty soon I had to just switch out the record all together to a Star Wars record that told new stories using all the same characters from the movie. Also not the greatest record to fall asleep to, but the sound of lasers and Darth Vader’s breathing wasn’t quite as upsetting as the psychotic laughter of The Count.”
