TVD’s The Idelic Hour with Jon Sidel

Greetings from Laurel Canyon!

As the days grow shorter and Summer is finally fading from our warm Canyon, we in LA have to recognize that a violent storm has reign down in someone’s backyard.

Back east, my mom and sister had to relocate for the week. I checked in with a friend on the Jersey Shore and she told me her town was in ruins and that she lost all of her guitars. I had a bad dream last night where broken guitars were washing onto shore. (Call it a cloudy take on the beginning of a Boardwalk Empire episode.)

It is not lost on this week’s Idelic Hour that there are vinyl heads back east who also lost their entire record collection to the great “Frankenstorm” of 2012. I lost my record collection in a fire some 30 years ago. It changed my life—well, at least the way I collected records forever afterward.

Shit, even thirty years later, thinking about replacing those records makes me just want to “check out.” I simply wanna lie down and nap—just go to fucking sleep, nod off, a temporary oblivion. (“The nod.” I love that. Well, as an idea.)

So, this is a playlist dedicated to just that. I’m calling it “Too Tired 2 Sleep.”

Listen, rest, and stay warm, safe, and dry.
