TVD Premiere: EV Kain, “Striking Out”

EV Kain showcase chops and musical grit on Record Store Day split 7″ single, “Striking Out.”

We have the pleasure of premiering the bi-coastal trio’s uptown lament on fumbling up. They describe their sound as “whack boom echo pop,” which certainly gives you an idea of what you’re in for when you commit to the play button. What comes out of the speakers sounds something like Gotye on crack—covering The Police—and that’s a very good thing.

Fans of indie afro-pop and echo drenched earworms will be sure to find something to like in these exuberant music makers. If “Striking Out” gets you itching to hear more of the like, check out the band’s recent A and B side “Yes No Maybe / Sun’s Holliday” at their Bandcamp page.

EV Kain has an upcoming gig with bass legend Mike Watt on Record Store Day to celebrate the release of the ORGMusic split 7”—Mike Watt + the Secondmen’s cover of The Dicks’ “Shit on Me.” with EVK’s “Striking Out” on the flip side.
