“Growing up with parents who played vinyl records throughout the day had a profound effect on me.”

“Some argue that vinyl sounds better and while I’m not sure what’s true or not, I tend to enjoy the sound of vinyl a little more. Maybe it’s a nostalgic quality that reminds me of childhood or maybe it’s just overall ‘warmth’ in tone. I have really no idea.

I will say that one day, I’d really love to record a live country album straight to vinyl. I think it would be a magical feeling being in the studio and watching the whole process of a record being carved.

New music technology has its perks with mp3s and smart phones and the accessibility of it, but holding a piece of art in your hands and seeing the artwork not through a computer screen can never truly be replaced. I’m lucky enough to have had parents who nurtured my curiosity for music through the use of great records.

My dad would play The Beatles, Crosby Stills Nash and Young, King Crimson, Jethro Tull, old classic country, beautiful symphonies of the masters, Barbra Streisand, Michael Jackson, etc… all through the day on his record player and I’m sure this is why I love music and probably why I love the sound of vinyl.”
