TVD Vinyl Giveaway:
of Montreal’s Paralytic Stalks (Yellow!)

Of all the bands that you listen to. Of all the things that you would want. Of all the vinyl that you might get your hands on. Why not… of Montreal?

The colossal creative force spearheaded by Kevin Barnes releases their ELEVENTH studio album Paralytic Stalks TODAY, via Polyvinyl. The gatefold 2xLP is 180g yellow vinyl, one disc mixed opaque, one disc plain opaque, both discs gorgeous. We’ve been fortunate enough to be able to claim a copy for one of our loyal readers, so here’s your opportunity to throw your hat in the ring for the chance to win this complex piece of aural artwork, sure to stimulate and demand intrigue.

Since its inception in 1996, of Montreal’s sound has had moved, shifted, evolved, adopted, contorted, and manipulated through all sorts of styles and genres. Their complex discography has played with obscure yet dancey anthems, fooled around with inventive excursions that teeter on dissonance, and toyed with what may be considered palatable without claiming loyalty to one brand or style of music, always coming across as accessible (enough). Barnes’ lyricism similarly claims a large range of variety with songs caked in reference to serious mental breakdowns to light-hearted searches for fuck-buddies.

Paralytic Stalks is yet another impressive effort whose diversity in sound is only properly given justice by actually sitting down and listening to its massive wall of sound. So how could you possibly get your hands on such a get? It’s simple! With of Montreal’s name representing the United State’s Hat (Canada), let us know aboot your favorite product of our good friends up north, eh?

Since I’m more than a little obsessed with IDM, I’m gonna have to go with an artist who was a stronghold of the late-great Merck Records and say Ilkae.

Give us your two cents in the comments below, and we’ll pick the winner a week from today, on Tuesday (2/14)! The winner must have a mailing address in North America.
