Dubbed “an unholy blend of Patterson Hood and Glenn Danzig” by scribes in their hometown of Minneapolis, The 4onthefloor are embarking on a spring tour to support the release of their latest 7-inch, Lion & Lamb, a split EP with fellow Minnesotans Roster McCabe.
The 4onthefloor contribute “Sheepskin,” the A-side track, with lead singer Gabriel Douglas’ grizzly baritone navigating the band’s twangy guitar and four (yes, four) bass drum rhythm section as if he’s just swallowed a razor blade and a shot of Bulleit Bourbon, respectively. Scratch that – straight up moonshine might be a more appropriate descriptor. Lion & Lamb is pressed on yellow vinyl, limited to 444 copies and available exclusively on the band’s tour.
This being the 4onthefloor’s third release in just one year, the quartet has plenty of material to draw from live. Standouts include “Bricklayer,” (check out the video below) and their cover of David Bazan’s “Wolves At The Door” from the 2011 EP, … And Four Riders Approached At Dawn.
Can’t make it to the spectacle that is the 4onthefloor’s raucous take on Delta Blues, augmented by Gabe Douglas’ killer beard and the entire band’s epic drum synchronicity? No problem. We’ve got a copy of Lion & Lamb that’s yours to win!
To enter, just tell us who you think has the music biz’s best beard in the comments below, and the cleverest entrant with a North American mailing address takes home the vinyl – by a whisker.
We’ll choose one winner a week from today, 5/4.
