‘Forever Dolphin Love’ is ten minutes plus of crazed, inspired, scary, wonderful psychedelic lunacy from Connan Mockasin. It’s making me crazy. I have had so many opportunities to go see Connan live, either in his current incarnation, or with his previous band, or as part of Connan & The Mockasins. Why oh why did I not pay proper attention. Anyway, this track, from last year’s magnificent ‘Please Turn Me Into The Snat’, is so damn good that we have included both the official video, (bonkers, in the best possible way); and a clip of a live performance from London’s Rough Trade east last year, which presumably coincided with the record’s release.
Connan, if you’re out there (and you almost certainly are) please give me another chance. A pub, bar, club or library will do. Have to see this highly original New Zealander and his crew. Originality of this type cannot be taught, bought or thought. It just is…
