Weekend Shots!

It’s been a long, rough week Philadelphia, you deserve to treat yo’ self this weekend!

As we get further into November and the temperatures begin to dip colder and colder, you may find yourself less inclined to venture outside of your humble abode. I mean who really enjoys having to bring their huge, puffy coat and collection of winter accessories into a concert? Luckily there are a bunch of great shows this weekend that will make it all worth it.

Friday, November 16th | The weekend kicks off with a bang on Friday night. Making Time, the monthly dance party at Voyeur that brings some of the hottest new talent in the indie dance scene has producer/dance-pop artist Matthew Dear in town. Joining up with him will be Light Asylum.

Across town at Union Transfer, Yeasayer and Sinkane make a stop. Interestingly enough, Sinkane used to be a member of Yeasayer (and Caribou, Of Montreal, Born Ruffians, etc. etc.). On top of all of this, after they finish their set at Union Transfer the guys from Yeasayer will swinging by Making Time for a special after party DJ set!

Saturday, November 17th | It doesn’t seem like it but Oregon’s The Helio Sequence have been around since 1996. Earlier this year they released their fifth studio album Negotiations via Sub Pop Records. They come to town to celebrate the release by playing at the Underground Arts. Joining them will be Hooray For Earth and Ramona Falls.

If you didn’t get enough dancing the night before, then head over to the Electric Factory for Kreayshawn‘s Group Hug tour. Teaming up with the internet rap star is Rye Rye, Honey Cocaine, Chippy Nonstop, and local DJ Guns Garcia.

Sunday, November 18th | There are so many great shows happening Sunday that it’s impossible to pick one to be the highlight of the night. So instead I’ll just run through them all.

There’s …and You Will Know Us By The Trail Of The Dead with The Coathangers and Residuels at Johnny Brenda’s, Conor Oberst and Daniel Johnston at The Kimmel Center, Caspa at Union Transfer and rounding things out is A$AP Rocky with Schoolboy Q, the rest of A$AP Mob and Danny Brown at the Electric Factory. With all that said you’ve got your pick of the liter come Sunday.

End your weekend on a high note!
