TVD Radar: Inside Looking Out, Rock and Roll Stories from Inside the British Music Business by Mark Rye

VIA PRESS RELEASE | Published on January 30th, 2017, Inside Looking Out, the second volume of Mark Rye’s compulsive collection of anecdotes, recollections, and behind-the-scenes revelations by British Music Business insiders sheds more light on the Legends.

Over ten years have been spent interviewing all sorts of wonderful players and industry insiders across the spectrum of the British music business. So if you have an interest in the first-hand stories behind the music, then this is the book for you. It contains many of the backroom people talking candidly about their work with musicians as well as musicians reflecting on their careers, their many successes and triumphs, plus the occasional minor mistake.

RockHistory.co.uk has evolved into a social history project of the British music phenomenon starting pre-Skiffle and heading all the way though Folk, Rock’n’Roll, R’n’B, Blues, Pop, and Rock with all sorts of musical detours on the way.

Following on from the well received Over, Under, Sideways, Down this second volume of stories and anecdotes casts further light on the likes of Queen, Kate Bush, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Deep Purple, Cat Stevens, Dire Straits and the Stone Roses whilst also telling tales about huge industry characters like Bryan Morrison, Jonathan King, and the self-styled godfather Don Arden.

You can learn what Morrissey did that helped break Five Star, how Chris Blackwell founded Island Records, or how Gary Numan helped establish the label where Adele has prospered, how the “Bohemian Rhapsody” video broke new ground and budgets, and maybe even learn something new about legendary producer Joe Meek.

This book collects together stories from the great and good of the British music explosion many of whom have sadly now gone to the great gig in the sky—but their best stories live on in these pages. 2016 has been a year of grievous losses to the Music Business, not least in the UK—and the fascinating back-stories contained within Inside Looking Out add much light and detail on How It All Happened.
