PHOTOS: MATTHEW BELTER | For over four decades, KMFDM has served as the unflinching, sawtooth-edged conscience of industrial rock. Led by the inimitable Sascha “Käpt’n K” Konietzko, the band has consistently delivered a barrage of politically charged, sonically abrasive anthems that have defined and redefined the genre.
Their legacy is one of relentless innovation and fierce independence, a “dope-show” of industrial metal, pounding electronics, and sardonic commentary that has influenced countless artists. Now, with their 24th studio album, ENEMY, the band proves they are as vital and ferocious as ever.
Set for release on February 6, 2026, ENEMY arrives as a defiant statement in a world grappling with rising instability and social tension. This album is a testament to the enduring power of the current lineup. Konietzko’s visionary production and snarling vocals remain the anchor, while Lucia Cifarelli delivers her signature blend of ethereal melodies and commanding aggression.
Longtime drummer Andy Selway provides a relentlessly powerful rhythmic foundation, and the album marks the studio debut of guitarist Todor Nieddu, whose sharp, incisive riffs add a fresh layer of intensity to the band’s sound. In addition, Annabella Konietzko contributes her first songwriting credit with KMFDM, and her contribution and vocals are straight fire.
Overall, the production on ENEMY is immaculate, balancing raw power with crystal-clear precision, allowing every synth pulse and guitar crunch to hit with maximum impact. It’s not just another album; it’s a meticulously crafted sonic assault that captures the zeitgeist with uncanny accuracy.
Here’s a track-by-track look at what this formidable record holds:
“Enemy” – We don’t need your thoughts and prayers with this incredibly powerful title track. I was hooked from Sascha’s very first note and his fury never let up. Yours may not either.
“Oubliette” – I’m out here on my own with Lucia’s powerful yet mesmerizing vocals. This ripper is KMFDM at its finest, and one of my favorites on the album. I think you may feel the same too.
“L’État” – I love this track, so if you are not with me, you are against me. That might be a harsh perspective on this one, but believe me when I tell you that it hits like a sledge hammer (even if the vocals are in French).
“Vampyr” – This song will literally breathe life into you. It’s funky, ferocious, and fun. It had me moving and grooving. Just love, love, love it.
“Yoü” – Jealousy doesn’t taste like sugar, but this banger of a track absolutely does. Annabella’s vocals and songwriting on full display which will have the masses up and dancing in no time. The future and heir-apparent to KMFDM? Only time will tell…

“Outernational Intervention” – This track is outside of time and space and really gets the mind thinking about how fucked up our world is these days. It’s fast, hard, and unapologetic—just the way I like it.
“A Okay” – Don’t believe your ears and eyes when I tell you this track takes strange and funky to a whole new level. Not sure I’m ok, but this track surely is in the best possible way.
“Stray Bullet 2.0” – Ready or not, this track has some serious irie grooves. A little reggae mixed in with a tad bit of ska and some haunting vocals goes a long way and had me smiling the whole way through.
“Catch & Kill” – For those who dare to listen, leave your hall pass at the door. This one caught me off guard with its unique sound and catchy lyrics. I think you’ll feel the same after giving it a spin around the block.
“Gun Quarter Sue” – An instrumental fairytale with faint hints of anarchy, chaos, and unrest mixed in with some serious Ultra Heavy Beats. Sounds like 2026 to me in some strange yet coincidental way.
“The Second Coming” – Surely some revolution is at hand in this dark and powerful finale. Listen closely and you might hear words and sounds that are all too familiar right hear in our own backyards.

What makes ENEMY so compelling is its ability to span the full spectrum of KMFDM’s sonic arsenal while feeling entirely new. From dance-rock grooves to thrash-influenced metal, the album is a dynamic journey that feels both familiar and forward-thinking. This is KMFDM at the peak of their powers, delivering a record that is as musically inventive as it is lyrically potent and as always, 100% relevant.
The band will support ENEMY with a 9-date European tour, kicking off February 8th in Munich and concluding December 8th in Eindhoven, with support from I ya Toyah (on most dates). KMFDM will also make one confirmed US appearance at the Sick New World festival in Fort Worth on October 24, 2026.
ENEMY is a vital, timely, and powerful addition to an already legendary discography that spans 40+ years. It is a must-have for longtime fans and an essential listen for anyone seeking music with intelligence, bite, and an unbreakable spirit.
