VIA PRESS RELEASE | SING, a music technology company and label, selling music from major artists and catalogs as vinyl/digital hybrid releases to super-fans, announced today that a limited edition (of 2,000) 5LP vinyl box set of previously unreleased and rare live radio performances by “The Voice”—Frank Sinatra—is available now for pre-order. Entitled Long Ago, Far Away, the set features some of the rarest, most sought-after Frank Sinatra recordings in history. These releases will not be available at traditional retail outlets, SING will host exclusive access to these releases online.

This limited edition box set follows on the heels of SING’s first Frank Sinatra title, At The Hollywood Bowl 1943–1948 which is now available on both vinyl and CD. Long Ago, Far Away, consists of live recordings and radio broadcasts recorded between 1943 and 1951. Long Ago, Far Away is available direct from SING MARKET and At The Hollywood Bowl is available directly on LP here and CD here. SING also plans to release an additional title leading up to the holiday season, Christmas on the Air. Full details on that release will be announced shortly.

SING spared no expense on extensive audio restoration campaign for these projects from original broadcast sources to give fans the best fidelity possible. Paired with a deluxe booklet featuring expert liner notes, rare photos, and vintage memorabilia, every set is unique—each vinyl record is visually distinct, ensuring no two are alike. “What SING has done with these mono broadcast recordings is nothing short of revolutionary—and remarkable,” says world-renowned Sinatra expert and author Charles L. Granata. “Engineer Harry Hess has taken the vintage sonics to an entirely new level by using professional AI tools to separate Sinatra’s voice from the orchestra, clean it, and raise the volume and re-integrate it with the instrumental backing so it has more presence and stands more prominently at the forefront of the recording.

This judicious use of professional AI tools has enabled SING to build on the inherent fidelity of these recordings. No gimmickry, fakery or psycho-acoustic tricks were used. Harry’s innovative, targeted and sensitive use of the burgeoning technology in a very specific way resulted in recordings that remain faithful to the artist’s performance while allowing it to shine as never before.”

To emphasize the importance of the restorations, Granata believes Harry Hess’s bold, creative approach takes them well-beyond anything he’s heard before. “I’ve been involved with audio restoration for thirty-two years, and Harry has been able to make these mono recordings breathe; they sound more open and lifelike.”

Granata, who produced Nancy Sinatra’s weekly Nancy for Frank radio program on SiriusXM from 2007 to 2021 and currently hosts Sinatra Standard Time on KSDS-FM in San Diego contributed the extensive, detailed liner notes that accompany the releases.

The Frank Sinatra Long Ago, Far Away deluxe box set features some of the rarest, most sought-after Frank Sinatra recordings in history: his elusive “live” concert recordings and theater appearances of the 1940s and 1950s. Brimming with previously unreleased (and largely unheard) performances, the music (along with the lavish booklet containing world-class liner notes, rare photos, and vintage memorabilia) beautifully portrays the iconic singer at the precise moment of his ascent as one of 20th century America’s greatest sensations.

Included are his 1945 performance at the Philadelphia Convention Hall; his three legendary Hollywood Bowl appearances of the 1940s; special radio recordings made for the Armed Forces; and a French radio broadcast of his Paramount Theater engagement with Joe Bushkin in the early 1950s. These recordings have been meticulously restored and remastered from the original recording discs by Harry Hess for superior sonic quality. Never before have these recordings been heard in such outstanding fidelity, and this handsome collection—lovingly curated—is a historically vital part of the Sinatra legacy, and is essential for any true Sinatraphile’s collection.
