Records store opens in Hollywood: The resurgence of vinyl records has brought a new store to Hollywood. Vinyl Asylum Records & Memorabilia has opened at 2028 Hollywood Blvd. The shop buys, sells and trades vinyl records, collectibles, vintage toys, autographed items, sports and music memorabilia.

Take Five: Reykjavík’s Record Shops: Where’s one of the best places in the world to spend the day crate digging? If you said Reykjavík, Iceland—which you probably didn’t, because … well … it’s Iceland—you’d be right. Reykjavík may be a small city on a small island, but its vinyl culture is huge.

How San Francisco’s famously obscure aQuarius Records is still thriving after 45 years: aQuarius Records (aQ) has been championing the fringes of music for 45 years now. They think. It could be 46, as the San Francisco record store has a murky sense of its own history – with no one working there having been around when the shop opened, which was either in 1969 or 1970.

Nervous Records back in the charts: After almost 40 years in business, Nervous Records has long been one of Hinckley’s most beloved indie shops. Tucked away in The Lawns, music lovers from across the area have flocked to the store since it opened in January 1978 – and now The Guardian has named it as one of its best record shops in the country.

Book review: Paul’s Records is part biography, part history and a little confusing, Paul’s Records can’t quite decide what kind of book it is. Part biography, part history, part cultural theory, it can be as confusing as that sounds, but is also an insightful glimpse into Hong Kong musical history and into one of the city’s most singular characters.

The SLO Record Swap on Nov. 7 at the SLO Grange Hall caters to vinyl lovers: Whether you’re a longtime collector or deciding to get into vinyl for the first time, the place to be this Saturday, Nov. 7, is the SLO Record Swap at the SLO Grange Hall, where vendors, collectors, and music lovers will meet from noon to 5 p.m. to enjoy all things vinyl.
