Record store owner stumbles upon 100,000 sealed records in basement: He bought the lot in five minutes flat. Owner of Minnesota’s Mill City Sound record shop, Rob Sheeley has discovered an unprecedented haul of sealed vinyl records in a Texan basement. Spanning the classics from Prince and Bob Marley to The Ramones and Frank Zappa, the collection of 100,000 virgin discs was the entire inventory of a record store that closed its doors in 1984.

LionVibes Reggae Record Shop—New Record shop opens in London: “I decided to open a record shop because more and more people are buying record players. And last year people bought more record players than any years since the 80s. Moreover, we had the opportunity to locate out business in Alton Ellis old shop in Brixton. How could we not take it,” laughs Matt Downs. According to Matt Downs a shop is the ideal way to bring a new, young audience to reggae, while the website is more focused on collectors of 60s and 70s reggae.

Vinyl fair announced for FarGo Village in March: Coventry is set to experience another exceptional vinyl fair this month, it has been confirmed. The city’s creative quarter at Fargo Village will welcome music fans to a record fair on Sunday, March 13. With vinyl enjoying a revival and the purchases of record players rising and rising, there is simply no better time to get down to the hub of independent retailers. The event promises the best of record traders, with genres from jazz to soul represented.

David Bowie’s “A Reality Tour” Will Be Released On Vinyl: Music fans the world over are still mourning the unexpected loss of iconic musician, actor and artist David Bowie. In celebration of his iconic career, reissue label Friday Music has just announced a special treat for Bowie fans in the form of A Reality Tour, which will be released on vinyl June 3rd. This three-record set contains live versions of some of Bowie’s biggest hits, along with popular album tracks and fan favorites, all taken from a Dublin, Ireland stop during his 2004 tour.

Is there reel-y any cash in old cassettes? Suggestions of the long-dead format rising from the ashes of audio history and into vogue could have potentially proven fruitful for consumers looking to cash in on loft-dwelling stockpiles of apparently worthless plastic. However, Scott Wardle, of Replay Records, Freeman Street, insists news of the cassette’s rise from the dead has been greatly exaggerated.
