Chicago, IL | Turn Back Time Records And Coffee In Irving Park Offers Neighbors A New ‘Third Space.’ Couple Emiley Kiser and Patrick Kapp launched their shop with a 5,000-album collection they bought on Facebook Marketplace and drove up from South Carolina. Irving Park’s newest coffee shop doubles as a record store where customers can browse vinyl albums while hanging out with friends. Turn Back Time Records and Coffee, 3834 W. Irving Park Road, opened Monday, and customers are already using the space like owners Patrick Kapp and Emiley Kiser hoped they would. The two live nearby and moved into the neighborhood in 2022. “People come in and order their drink. They’re meant to pick it up at the other side of the bar. But before their drink’s even ready, they’re already in the back looking at records,” Kapp said. …In the rear of the shop, shelves hold hundreds of albums from artists across genres, from The Beach Boys to Leon Bridges and Nirvana.
Wheeling, WV | Nail City Record finds new home on Main Street: Nail City Record is settling into their new downtown space after relocating from their previous spot on 12th street. After operating out of the McLain building for about eight years, the owners decided to move to a more central location next to Capitol Theater. There’s vinyl records, CDs, t-shirts and more items available in the shop. Owner Jonathan Napier said it was time to move in order to better serve Nail City Record’s growing customer base. “Wheeling has been great, everybody’s been supportive, the community wants to see more small businesses start and also be successful. That’s been our experience, that the community has always supported us and we hope to have more product offering that’s outside of just physical media.”

Manchester, UK | New Manchester record shop opens in Northern Quarter: Onsite Records, located on 81 Newton Street, opened on July 5th. A new record store has opened in Manchester’s Northern Quarter. Onsite Records, which is open from Tuesdays to Sundays, features a curated selection of Balearic, disco, progressive house and more. Aside from a record store, Onsite operates as a cafe and sells prints by Taking Shape, who also designed the store’s furniture. Plans are underway for the store to begin hosting Friday and Saturday events in the future, in addition to selling wines.
