Footfall is down in his flagship Dundee shop, but Keith Ingram remains confident his track record speaks volumes. Over the last decade, despite rising running costs, the vinyl aficionado has expanded to Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen—and he isn’t finished yet. Ennis, IE | Efforts Underway To Save Ennis’ Only Remaining Record Shop: It comes as the building hosting the Record Break in the Upper Market Street Car Park is set to go to market. The shop has operated as a concert venue and café over the past 12 years and Owner Sinéad Nic Síoda has launched a fundraising campaign in the hopes of purchasing the building and securing its future. She’s told Clare FM’s Morning Focus that it’s a vital arts and cultural hub.

Swansea, MA | Vault Vintage Vinyl record shop in Swansea has its swan song: Vault Vintage Vinyl is on the last track of side 2—the needle quickly closing in on that locked groove when the music fades out. Joe McDonald has been running the used record shop on the second floor of 310 Wilbur Ave. since 2024, taking over for longtime friend Randy Blake II, who died that year. McDonald has spent the past two years selling down the inventory, but is now preparing to close the doors soon with a major going-out-of-business sale that lovers of vintage music and pop culture merch need to see. “He had a massive collection of records, books, comics, toys—you name it, he had it,” McDonald said.

Taylorville, IL | Sydney Lynn’s Little Book Shop & Vinyl Celebrates 5 Years Of Business: A ribbon cutting took place Saturday, August 1st, at Sydney Lynn’s Little Book Shop & Vinyl located on the Taylorville Square. The ribbon cutting took place at 10 AM and was to commemorate the shop as a member of the Greater Taylorville Chamber of Commerce. Following the ribbon cutting event, the shop celebrated 5 years of operation with a full day of fun. From 9 AM to 6 PM the shop hosted an anniversary celebration that featured live music, free swag, huge sales on products, gift certificates, and even a spin the wheel contest with prizes. At 10 AM, country style acoustic guitarist, Brady Joe Patton, took the spotlight for the first musical performance of the day.

Birmingham, UK | Dance music-focused record store launches in Birmingham: A new, independent dance music-focused record store has opened in Birmingham. 3 Phase Records, which officially launched last month (July 4), stocks “thousands” of house, techno, trance, drum ‘n’ bass, disco and electronic records, alongside specialist merch and listening stations across its two floors, sitting within a Grade II-listed building in Birmingham’s Gun Quarter. In the months ahead, 3 Phase Records will host label takeovers and open deck events for up-and-coming DJs to test their skills. On July 18, the store held a ‘Trance Sessions’ event featuring sets from Russel Priest, Kyle Fletcher, Paaarty Pigeon and more.
