Around one in three adults owns a vintage music player, according to an insurer. Some 34% of people surveyed for Aviva said they own a vintage music player, such as a vinyl record player, a cassette tape player or a vintage radio. People aged 80-plus were particularly likely to own a vinyl record player, with nearly two-fifths (39%) of those surveyed doing so. But vinyl record players also prove popular among the younger generations, with 18% of Gen Z 18 to 28-year-olds and and 16% of Millennials aged 29 to 44 owning one.

The four story building stands in a small street in front of a school, catching the eye of many passersby. One student walking by looked up and told his schoolmate, “Ganda! Library ata ‘yan!” Plaka MNL is a one-stop shop vinyl record store—with about 2,500 records to choose from, record players, vinyl care essentials, and even wooden furniture for your setups. “Only two floors are currently being occupied by Plaka MNL. The ground floor is the demo area and the listening station for various turntable setups,” Manalo explains.
Stourbridge, UK | Stourbridge vinyl shop Record Culture to close its doors: A Stourbridge record shop will close its doors for the final time later this year. Record Culture, the independent vinyl record shop on Market Street, is set to close by the end of September. Owner Lee Newman announced the decision in a heartfelt message on social media calling it the “right time” to move on as the shop’s lease comes to an end. He stressed that the physical shop only would close, with Record Culture continuing to operate through pop-ups, fairs and other events, community selling, and its online store. Lee said: “After seven years in Stourbridge I have taken the hard decision to close our physical shop. “As our lease ends this year, it feels like the right time to let the physical shop come to its natural end too.”
Mold, UK | Mold Record Fair to return with thousands of records and CDs: One of North Wales’ longest-running record fairs is set to return to Mold later this month, bringing thousands of vinyl records, CDs and music lovers into the town. VOD Music’s second record fair of the year will take place at the Daniel Owen Community Centre on Saturday, July 25, from 10am until 4pm, with free entry for visitors. The event has been running for more than 20 years and has become a fixture in the calendar for collectors across the region, attracting around 400 to 500 visitors over the course of the day. Owner of VOD Music, Colin Trueman, said this year’s fair would feature 19 stalls packed with music spanning almost every genre imaginable. “There are thousands of vinyl records and CDs,” he said. “We’ve got soul, rock, jazz, funk, blues—all tastes are catered for.
