Zia Records, located off Charleston and Rainbow, sold out of all Dolly Parton merchandise after news broke of the country singer’s death. The store carries an eclectic collection of vinyl records, tapes, CDs and pop culture memorabilia. Zia Records Marketing Rep Christina Wilson said she was floored when she heard of Parton’s passing. “She’s someone that we just kind of thought was like eternal,” Wilson said. “It was, it’s a lot of shock and a lot of sadness.”

Rochester, MN | Despite community objections, controversial Rochester development moves forward: Standing inside his record and vintage shop, Treedome Vinyl and Vintage owner Nathaniel Nelson said he chose to open his record shop and music venue in a historic building wedged between a bar, a coffee shop and an art gallery for a reason. “Seeing a district that already had that arts community starting to blossom was really intriguing for us,” he said. “And part of the reason why we decided to move to Rochester instead of like Minneapolis, we wanted to be a part of something that felt like it was moving in a good direction.” But a city council vote last week that clears the way for a potential $23 million new residential project has thrown Treedome’s future into question.
Albany, NY | Former Albany record shop building demolished: The Blue Note Record Shop was a staple on Central Avenue in Albany for over 70 years. But that piece of music history is no more as the building was demolished on Tuesday. According to the Historic Albany Foundation, Avram “Abraham” Pock opened the Blue Note Record Shop in November 1948. The shop had over 100,000 titles in its inventory, including LPs, 45s, and cassette tapes. “Its specialty was traditional recorded music and the great popular artists of earlier generations,” wrote the Historic Albany Foundation. “Customers could search through recordings by Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, the Beatles and countless others…”

Starsailor / Love is Here 25th anniversary reissue: Starsailor’s debut album, Love Is Here, will be reissued in October for its 25th anniversary. Co-produced with Steve Osbourne, the 2001 album features an impressive five top 40 hit singles including ‘Alcoholic’ and ‘Good Souls’ which were number 10 and 12 respectively. For the reissue, the album has been remastered by Geoff Pesche at Abbey Road. A 2CD deluxe edition offers an interesting selection of bonus tracks (20 in total) including previously unreleased David Kosten mixes of some album tracks, unheard demos and BBC live sessions and recordings. The LP version offers the remastered audio on translucent orange vinyl. Love Is Here will be reissued on 2 October 2026 via Parlophone.

The hotel has opened the Gunter Studio, a professional recording facility on its second floor that features a 48-channel Neve Genesys Black mixing console and other high-end equipment. …The studio is designed to serve professional musicians, touring artists, students and nonprofits—while giving San Antonio musicians a new place to record and collaborate. “From the very start of this renovation, we felt that we had a duty to honor the music that has filled these halls for over a century,” said Jiwon Choi, owner and managing director at Axle Capital.
